Backpacking Journey: Siem Reap, Cambodia (Part 2)

Ok.... After a relaxing day 1, we exhaust ourselves on Day 2 by walking until our legs basically can't move another inch at Temples of Angkor, one of the World Heritage.

We reach Angkor Wat around 6pm, awaiting for the sunrise.
Before daylight...

I force myself to awake at 4am. Yeap. It’s super duper early. Simply because we need to rush to Angkor Wat before the sunrise. We are going to spend the rest of the day exploring the uniquely Angkor Wat, one of the world heritage site. It wasn’t our lucky day as its cloudy and we couldn’t see nor capture the breathtaking views of the sunrise.

Siang and I

After having our breakfast(bread only), we explore around Angkor Wat before heading to South Gate of Angkor Thom.

Jean, having breakfast

The same morning visit South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King, Ta Phrom, Pre-rup and many more. Sorry that I couldn't recall the names.

Different shades of colour cos some are replica made at different time. (Oh.. it's knowledge thing)

Ta Phrom (The Angelina Jolie- Tomb raider tree. Nah... not sure which tree cuz all look the same)

Look!! There's superman up there!!!

We saw this ruin which look exactly like a photo frame. So, we all started to take photograph with this "frame". We took really really long time, snapping our 5-lian-pai till some of the visitors probably sick of us or laughing at us. But it was so fun.
Siang post damn funny lor...

How come I don't have other people funny pose de..... Arrgghhh....

After posing too much, time for exercise. We actually climb all the way up on the small and steep staircase. Then we notice YP face turn white. Damn scary. Thought that he going to puke anytime. (The CNY incident). LOL.

YP very very pale face. Pity. Pity.

Some old stones/fallen debris of the monument. Dunno why, it looks so creepy or scary. Don't you think so?

ok. finally something green within all the brown brown wall

Sunset view at Pre-Rup. no sunset also... T___T.

So,we basically walked the whole day until we barely can move an inch. I can feel that my legs no longer attached to my body. Around 6.30pm, we bid farewell to Angkor Kingdom and headed straight back to our hostel.

It’s felt so good after a long shower. After a tiring day, we decided to have our dinner at our in-house restaurant of Ancient Angkor. Nothing in the world can beat a nice warm meal with the local beer. Cheers!!!

Day 3 is street days.

Holding the map around the city, we explore the town. There’s really so many temples around. Today is the day we’ve learned so much about Cambodian people. We walked around and bump into a group of students learning English at the temple. Out of curiosity, we actually attempt to get a clearer view of the place but to our surprise, the teacher came out and invite us to join the class. We had our English lesson for around half an hour.

English class with student

Ok. that white shirt fella is the teacher. if not mistaken his name is john. cambodian name too complicated to be remember. LOL.

After a valuable experience, we finally reach the market. Shopping at Siem Reap really very expensive as the currency rate is USD. I end up didn't buy anything in Siem Reap.

While we were deciding where to have our dinner, we bumped into the teacher at the temple. We had our dinner together and that is the time we learn about Cambodia from a Cambodian.
Where is the group photo? How come I don't have??

There is lots of funny picture inside Siang's camera but I accidentally deleted it. Damn. Stupid me.

Well. That's the wrap up for Siem Reap Part 11. Stay tuned for next post when we travel to Phnom Penh...

Babai for now....
