Backpacking Journey: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

We have to wake up early in the morning, have a quick breakfast at our hostel before heading to main bus stop of Siem Reap to continue our journey to Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia.

It took us 6 hours to reach the town of PP, where there is flocks of tuk tuk waiting to take passengers. Flag down a tuk tuk and reach our hostel, Narnin 2 GuestHouse.

Had a quick and simple lunch at our hostel. With the map of PP town in hand, we headed to the largest casino in PP. The hostel boss told us we only need to walk around 15min.
And we end up walking longer than half an hour.

Siang and Monument of Independence

The exhausted me

On our way to the casino, we saw this Starbuck. Since we were so exhausted from walking so far, we though of going in to have a cuppa. As Siang and I walk to the entrance of the shop, the door automatically open.

I thought, "Wow! Service so good."

And ends up the good service was for the pub upstairs and that starbuck is new and will officially opened the next month.

And finally we reach the casino, Naga World. Look so grand from the outside. And look at the large crowd. Cambodian sure like to lepak around here.

Sunset view

After enjoying the sunset view at the casino, we decided to take tuk tuk back as none of us willing to walk back all the way to our hostel.

Siang and I on our tuk tuk

It's a big tuk tuk that can fit 4 of us. Not a lucky day for us as the driver didn't know how to go to our hostel. And he didn't understand English. We end up rounding around our hostel area, asking direction from the local. It wasn't a lucky day for our driver as well, as he damage the roof of one of the local's stalls. Pity him. Rugi business.

We went to tour around PP. We took the package from our hostel. Places that we covered Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, ZTuol Sleng Museum, Russian Market, Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda and Wat Phnom.

At the entrance of Killing Fields of Choeung Ek

Big hole are those mass grave. Bits of cloth are scattered all over the area.

Museum of the skeleton and bones of the innocent victims

We then headed to another depressing destination, Tuol Sleng Museum, which serves as testament to the crime of Khmer Rouge.

Depressing Jean and one of the survivor of the cruel torturing of Khmer Rouge.

Russian Market

We had our shopping spree at Russian Market. Bought quite a lot of useless stuff which I don't even remember where I keep it. LOL.

YP with golden ring on his head. LOL

Silver Pagoda

Gold Palace (Because it's gold in colour. LOL)

Look... its a bird....

Look at the traffic condition. We suppose to go straight but block by this mass group. This force our driver to reverse quite a distance and take a superb big round to reach our next destination. wtf.

Entrance of Wat Phnom. Oldest Wat in PP.

Siang with the monument

Ok. That's the end of our trip in Cambodia..

Next destination Vietnam.
